Bronte Hough our Managing Director recently caught up with Ash Manual to talk about GWG and how the idea grew into a much need platform for schools.

In 2010, while teaching as a primary school physical education teacher in Adelaide, South Australia, Ash discovered that a number of people who excelled in their chosen field identified gratitude & happiness as the key to their success/achievement.

His journey started as a passion project, and through further investigation he discovered an entire world he didn’t know existed. This was the world of positive psychology, so in 2014 and with the support of his school Principle, Ash decided to combine his skills as a teacher with the principles he learned that lead to his break through and created Growing With Gratitude. A global positive education/wellbeing program that helps to build and protect children’s mental health. Growing With Gratitude focuses on teaching children skills based on gratitude, kindness, empathy, mindfulness & serving others, they key building blocks to resilience & happiness.

This same year, the Adelaide Football Club joined his initiative and really supported the program, which gave the program a real springboard in it’s reach to more schools throughout the State. In 2016, Ash introduced an on-line platform to assist schools beyond in face to face visits.

“The idea behind Growing with Gratitude, is to teach young people skills to move forward from challenges.” Ash says. “Teach them gratitude, kindness, empathy & provide the opportunities to practice regularly & take ownership on how to do this.”

“It’s a preventative model that gives people the skills to feel better, & starting at a young age is easier to develop minds. The way we practice is through explicit teaching, like lessons in classrooms, games & activities. The on-line program gives the teachers the tools to continue the teaching after the face to face sessions.”

The GWG Program has been warmly received & Growing with Gratitude continues to grow and prosper.

We are extremely proud to support Ash and his Organisation, and to date we have helped 66 schools receive his program:

Ash’s vision is to reach 1 million students & impact in a really positive way. He’s also keen to partner with sporting organisations to spread the word.

Well done on everything that you have achieved to date Ash, our communities and society are a better place for it.
